TCAPS Goes Online
January 7, 2022
On Thursday, January 6, 2022, at approximately 1:45 pm, teachers and students heard EMS Principal Mr. Perkins over the loudspeaker providing instructions to teachers, “Teachers, please check your emails and at 2:00 I will be providing another announcement.” The loudspeaker went silent and an eerie feeling settled over students and staff. It was just around a year ago when students and staff received a very similar announcement that resulted in everyone transferring back to virtual learning.
While waiting for Mr. Perkins to give his second announcement at 2:00, students erupted with silent whispers, too distracted to think about their 6th hour assignments.
Finally, two minutes late, at 2:02 pm Mr. Perkins came back onto the announcements informing students that Friday, January 7, 2022 was going to be a ‘snow day’ and for Monday and Tuesday TCAPS would be virtual due to teacher shortages. Lastly, he alerted students that they would be let out of class five minutes early that day to empty out their lockers and get textbooks from classrooms.
